All of the Richland cpu's are UVD3 (AMD's latest), so with respect to hardware video decode they are equal. So bottom line is for dedicated Xbmc box, the lowest power chip is the best (unless this is Windows and you really need to use Silverlight, in which case you want a pretty good performing quad core or better).

If you are doing Linux this thread.

Quad core? why

Silverlight is CPU intensive. Keep in mind that Silverlight is a dead-end and Netflix has a plan to dump it anyway.

Netflix already dumped Silverlight in Windows 8. For Windows 7 Netflix plugin that uses Silverlight, even the Celeron 847 mobile chip will run Netflix HD without frame drops (tested this myself).

Its not that CPU intensive. The G630 runs it just fine. Anyway I decided on the AMD A8-5600K Trinity and a ASRock FM285X ITX to replace my i3 and 6670. So I ended up with a quad core anyway
