Centralised configs
#1
I just implemented centralised configuration of XBMC across my network (using pathsubtitutions and SMB) and about an hour later rolled it back, as it screwed up most of my plugins. (e.g. the subtitles script tries to directly access local paths within %appdata%)

I know this is an issue with the plugins themselves, but are there any plans to implement a robust central configuration system? For example, adding support for plugins to store their configs internally within XBMC and access them through the XBMC API?

I think such a "proper" solution would be far preferable to the hacky pathsubstitution/files over SMB method, and without it, we'll never see working central configuration.

I think this is part of the larger story of making XBMC a true client/server system, and I'm not sure when/if that's going to happen.
