replace xbmc on hard drive with openelec on memory card???
#1
I have been testing openelec on my acer revo 1600 for a while now.
I have been running openelec off of a memory card
xbmc is still installed on the hard drive
now that I see that openelec works well with my revo I basically want to replace the xbmc installation on the hard drive with my openelec installation I have been running off the memory card.
What is the easiest way to accomplish this without having to set everything up all over again?

I THINK that cloning your SD card to your HDD and then resizing the partition might work, but even if it does it's still a lot of trouble and you would also lose anything else you have stored on your HDD.

I would suggest that you install OpenELEC from scratch on your HDD and then just replace the userdata folder. Also, you could just make a backup using any of the available plugins for that and then restore it on your new installation.

->install openelec on the hard drive
#touch /var/lock/xbmc.disabled
#killall -9 xbmc.bin
->Copy the userdata folder from your memory card install onto the new HDD installation
#rm /var/lock/xbmc.disabled

That's the simple version. But it may be more complicated depending on how/where your content is stored (e.g., partition on the HDD or NAS).

I see what you mean but it's worth a try.
