Hello. I watched a video where a Dutch guy was using his TV remote to control his Pi. My Pi is plugged into an AV receiver, can i use the receiver remote to control the Pi? How would i set that up?

IF you connect your Pi using HDMI AND your TV supports CEC (see here) , then just enable CEC and away you go (per the guy in the video)

As you are apparently using AV rather than HDMI, another alternate (and a lot more work!), is to take a look at this thread.

Thanks for that link! I already had an IR receiver thing connected but the guide i was following didn't work for me. The one you linked worked like a charm. I will tackle the programming part tomorrow and post back if I have any problems mapping the buttons.

When i get to step 3 in that guide nothing appears for my to copy and paste? Should it appear in the cmd shell? I'm using Putty to SSH into my Pi. I'm using Openelec.

EDIT: Never mind, i found a video that was very helpful and actually worked...
