Native scraper giving "also known as" titles

I'm enjoying the latest .15 release, mainly because it fixes the language bug in the titles - I want it to scrape the English language titles for foreign films, and that works now. Hooray!

But here's a new funny thing. Using the native scraper, forcing USA title, it's not scraping the IMDb title, it's scraping the "Also Known As" title from IMDb. Argh!

For example: instead of "You Only Live Twice," I end up with "Ian Fleming's You Only Live Twice."

"Zack and Miri Make a Porno" becomes "Zack and Miri." Considerably less interesting.

Any ideas how to set this to scrape IMDb and get the normal English titles for films?

The original title is not always an English title. Not all movies are from USA ...
Ember makes it right: If nothing is set, the original title is taken. If U.S. is set, the AKA title is used.
If the title is wrong is the problem with IMDB and not with Ember.

I'm confused, then... I've got a bunch of movies from different countries, USA, Japan, whatever. I want to scrape them all.

If I do NOT set it to give me the US title, then the title, for example, scrapes as "Kimyo na sakusa." This isn't right. I want the English title, "Strange Circus."

So I set it to give me the US titles, and now a bunch of the US movies scrape as AKA titles. This isn't right.

Setting this option either way, I end up with bad titles.

Is it not possible to scrape the English titles from IMDb without also taking the AKA titles?

We use only the information that is available to IMDB.
If you look at Kimyô na sâkasu, there is no U.S. title, just a World-wide. But there is not anywhere a World-wide title.

In Avatar, for example, there are many more titles, including several for U.S., but no World-wide.

The only thing you can do is to use the TMDB scraper. But this is still flawed in my opinion. There, the titles are mostly in English.

Wait, I notice that the title that shows in bold at the top of an IMDb listing is the one I want. Kimyo na sakasu shows as Strange Circus, with Kimyo na sakasu being the "original title". Or it's "Cannibal! The Musical," with "Alferd Packer: The Musical" being the "original title".

In both of these cases, Ember gives me the "original title". Isn't there a way to just give me the title in bold instead?

When I look at Kimyô na sâkasu, I see "Strange Circus" listed as the title and "Kimyô na sâkasu" listed as the original title. Using akas.imdb.com with the native scraper always results in the original title being used and switching it to www.imdb.com always uses the English title (at least for me), except in the match window where the original title is always used no matter what.

Maybe IMDB changed something after you updated the scraper. Anyway, I think the ideal situation would be to populate both the title and original title fields.
