Hey!

I got 3rd gen i3 in my server. All HDDs in there and working great. I use plex to serve a few nowTV boxes remotely as well as serve my latest XBMC box.

My question is.

If I put plex media server onto my xbmc box. Upped that to i3 [currently G620T] and pointed the sources as drives on main server. Could this theoretically double my serving capabilities to more nowTV boxes? Whilst at the same time. Enjoy XBMC and watching media on that?

Just got me thinking because I have about 5 nowTV boxes out there. Just thinking of future proofing what's going to happen when they all connect at once lol.

Or is it i7 upgrade time? Lol!

Good morning Smile

What you´re basically saying is that you will have 2 Plex servers running? If so, it should work, though the htpc will get hotter and noisier.

Have you measured how much CPU it takes to serve your tv-boxes?

No. But after reading the posts you did about it. An i5 struggling with 2 transcodes got me think tis all!
