Linux Radeon OSS with vdpau (howto)
@fritsch. I have an htr520 onkyo. I can test spdif this WE if you like. Ac3/DTS work on win7.
@gfisher: Thanks, that would be great. Power down the volume. Arch works, OpenELEC works, OpenSUSE does - but Ubuntu seems to produce noise.

@gfisher, and fritsch,

i can confirm that. I thought it was something I was doing wrong. I have a digital converter, and I was just assuming that it was not able to handle the passthrough.

what type of logs/ information do you need?

and yes, @gfisher, start with your volume at 0, or you might not have your speakers for long -- LOL!
Linux Mint 18 LTS 64-bit - Kodi 17 Beta6
Odroid-C2 - Libreelec v7.90.009
@locomot1f: Sadly I don't know. The code is correct - it works on all platforms despite Ubuntu :-( Will need to find some time to fiddle with the PA modules on ubuntu.

Hi,

I heve tried to follow the installation instructins correctly, but at the end the result is that I can not set VDAPU option in XBMC.

Can you help me to figure out what is wrong?

Thanks
M

There is not such option. I can see in Video settings:
  • Play the next video ...
  • Display 4:3 video as
  • Activate teletext
  • Scale Teletext ...
  • Reset ...

That is all :-(.

Guys,

good job ... well done. CPU usage dropped from 70% to 10% after installation of the packages using VDPAU.

Amazing!!!!
Thanks

Another problem,

why do I need to upgrade the kernel? When I try to build my v4l driver it fails ...

Quote:In file included from /root/tbs/linux-tbs-drivers/v4l/cx25840-core.c:43:0:

Is there way to use a stable kernel?
Thanks
M
If you don't need Multichannel Audio and bitstream audio go with 3.12.

PS: Fix your drivers (see OE github, all patches are there).

Ok, I did.
But I will need some help. The fw for v4l is build and installed, but TBS is still building own version that fails as in the previous post.

I have checked the INSTALL instruction, but there is no way to overcome it.

If it's those: http://www.tbsdtv.com/download/ <- download their latest version, they explicitely mention compatibility with 3.13 - every compilation bugs goes to their forum.

Tnaks for your help! Now, everything works correctly. I really appreciate your support.
