Win Remote for XBMC
#1
Question to all of you out there that run a Windows XBMC HTPC.

I'm looking for a remote that will work amazingly. Great distance, no need to point directly at something to work, and possibly work through walls (RF instead of IR). Something that works as great as the Boxee Box's remote. And something that is still available for purchase. As there are so many out there you just can't buy anymore.

I have built the following device for my HTPC;

So if any of those specs help to determine which remote might work better with it, please point that out in your response.

Thanks in advance for all your help and opinions.

Iam very happy with the Mele F10 remote. You have to search this forum for config, when config is done its working great (windows 8). I was also searching for a boxee box remote like. Btw i just order the Mele F10 PRO. From what i read, the PRO is better, but cant tell for now. Check ebay for price!

Good luck Smile

LOGIK3,

Thanks for the suggestion. It looks pretty similar to a Boxee remote. I like that idea. I'll pick one up and try it out. They're only $26 on Amazon. I don't think I'll go with the PRO version as I have no use for audio or a microphone on the remote.

I also found a couple of posts that refer to mapping this remote;

I'm just adding them here so that I don't have to search for them again.

Rogern,

I'm looking for a RF (Radio Frequency) signal, not an IR (InfraRed) signal. I don't want to be confined by having to direct the IR beam to a certain spot. All of my equipment is behind where I sit. I don't want to have to do any gymnastics in my seat to try to get the device to function. But thanks for the suggestion.

BTW, I have tried and tried pairing a Bluetooth device with the rig that I have. It's been a no go from the start. Don't know what's going on with that, but what a pain in the arse it's been trying to get that to work. Unload drivers, reload drivers, reinstall OS.....nothing has helped.
