Hi
I want to build a small xbmc media player pc this pc will have other uses like running a few old game emulators and I just wanted to ask peoples opinion on the build and see if there are any known issues with parts I'm using or anything.

Motherboard: Gigabyte E350N-WIN8 (cpu is built onto board).
CPU: AMD E-350
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6310

RAM: Corsair 2G DDR3 1333MHz VS DIMM (not sure if 2 gb is enough or overkill as it isn't going to be doing much).

Which emulators did you have in mind?

With that build I'd reckon you'd easily tear through MAME, NES, SNES, Mega Drive (Genesis), even Playstation 1 should be possible..

And if you're running it on a big screen, highly recommend you research xBR filters - they round the edges so it doesn't look so blocky..

Are you going with Windows ? The Xbox 360 controller for windows is great with XBMC..

I was going to use mostly old emulators the highest one I would go is ps1 emulator as the ps2 emulator barley works. I know the hardware will easy be able to run it as I have had the ps1 emulator on a old pc 1.6 ghz with a nivdia fx card. I was going to use that pc for xbmc but it wont install properly and it runs like complete crap.

as for os most likely linux but not sure weather to have a dual boot of xbmcbuntu and normal ubuntu or just ubuntu and install xbmc.
If I can use linux I will use linux and every point I can windows isn't very good Smile especially in terms of hardware use.

The screen I'm going is a bush hd ready tv 27 inch may not be the best tv but I dont want to spend to much money getting a new tv as I'm getting this off a friend.

As for controller I'm just going to use a standard usb controller that is a copy of a dualshock I have no idea of the brand.
