Intel NUC - Haswell (4th Generation CPU)
The grey error is fixed in the OpenElec nighties

ATM I have to watch TV via the NUC and a Sundtek DVB-S2 Tuner. It works really good with OpenElec 3.2.4.

BUT the noise is so annoying. While watching a channel the temps are 58 degrees Celsius. While opening the channel guide the temps jump up to 72 degrees Celsius and the fan starts to hoooooooooooooowl. (Aeon NOX and Aoen MQ 5)

I will have to buy a new case, but the prize is really steap atm...

Looks like VAAPI is not used at all. A logfile (with debugging) will tell.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

@fritsch

VAAPI is activated. The question is if it works!?

So I have to acitivate debugging and then play around and the check the logfile? Correct?

picked up the "H" version of the i3 NUC (http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/n...0wykh.html) and its a beast.

Stuck a 60gig msata drive and a 1tb 2.5" drive and it works like a dream. installed windows 8.1 (have some windows only programs and configurations i needed) but booting straight into XBMC via shell replacement, about 5 seconds on cold boot to xbmc logo, 2 more seconds to get it started and we are in. super quiet, super quick.

my library didn't transfer over well so i lost half of my watched flags on tv episodes and movies, but having it locally sure beats the SMB config i was using on my ATV2 before.

My Fanless case is finally arrived Smile

at first, it was a little bit a mess inside ... Aluminium-dust and shavings ... made in UK *scnr*

ok, time for some test:
under heavy usage (stress-test) is my i5 not over the 55°C.
1080p h.264 movie 33°C,
10bit 1080p h.264 with flac sound -> 40°C.

i'm so happy right now Smile

Is 24p output ok for you guys with the Haswell NUCs? Mine plays 24p for a while and then jumps to 60Hz mode. Described the issue here with logs: http://openelec.tv/forum/67-display/6916...20x1080x60

Which Case did you get?

Which OS do you use? Could you please specify which stress test you used?

Looks nice. So there is enough space for a SATA SSD inside?

Can you fit a mSATA SSD and a 2.5" HDD/SDD? Or is this case for mSATA only?

Sorry for the off-topic.

Please read the first page. Openelec has issues with shutting off atm. Win 8.1 works flawlessly.
