XBMC Not playing nice on windows xp
#1
This is my setup:

OpenElec on an HTPC in the living room, where the library is. It is broadcasting over upnp.

I have installed xbmc on my windows 8 laptop and succesfully accessed the library.

However, when I installed xbmc on my old winxp machine, it refuses to see the library.

Yes, upnp is enabled on the machine. Any ideas?

(Both the HTPC and my laptop are wireless, the winxp machine is wired to the router)

Some routers don't play nice bridging UPNP broadcasts between the wired and wireless networks. I would try the laptop on a wired connection with wireless disabled to see what happens, should at least help identify if the problem lies with the router or xp box.

I just disabled wifi on my laptop and plugged myself into the router.
And...you're right! I can no longer access the xbmc server.

Unplugging and enabling wifi...and I now cannot access xbmc from my laptop.

This is absolutely maddening.

Yes, UPnP can be very frustrating - particularly as different machines/software can interpret it differently. You may well (nay probablySmile ) find that the UPnP connection will reappear on the laptop at a later stage today or tomorrow. A Google search of your router model and upnp may (with a bit of luck) point you in the right direction.
