XBMC Hardware Question
#1
Hi all,

I have an older machine laying around that has a Core 2 Duo Processor, E6550, 2.33GHZ and 4GB of RAM already installed in it. I was going to pair it with a Zotac ZT-60209-10L GT640 video card. My questions are:

Will this be plenty of power to run XBMC with a very heavy skin?
Will this set up be able to bit-stream?
Will this set up be able to play 3D content?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Yes to all 3.
Assuming you already have the Zotac video card or if you plan to do some gaming.
If not i would go for cheaper and probably fanless GT610, it does everything HTPC related as well as 640 and consumes less energy, just has less power for games.

Thanks for the reply and the tip on the GT610. I appreciate it.

Thanks,

I ran a C2D E8400, 4GB RAM, and a GT 520 (GT 610 is a rebadged version) for a while on XBMC, you'll be fine.

1. Yes
