Hi,

This is my third HTPC build and Ive ran into some troubles with sound via the HDMI cable. I get no sound via HDMI.

I have a Asrock B85m-ITX motherboard with celeron processor, 4 gig ram and a 4 TB hard Drive. Running XBMCbuntu 12.2

Under system settings i have no option for sound via HMDI. When i log into XBMC desktop i believe everything is there and working properly.

Has anyone came across this problem before and if so how did you rectify it?

hmm in xbmc desktop can you change audio output to hdmi and get sound on desktop

Yes you normally can but the option isn't there. Its like Ubuntu doesn't know it's there.

what audio options do you have in xbmc itself ?
can you set audio output to hdmi and then list the available options

is hdmi port enabled in bios ? (not sure whether this is an option)

I have 2 asrock boards both have no trouble with hdmi (set up in about 10 seconds)
strange hdmi is not seen in ubuntu
