Save correct modelines from receiver as xorg.conf
#1
My HTPC is connected to Yamaha receiver
If the TV is not on when XBMC starts, it probably reads wrong frequencies and cannot switch to 24hz for example
However if TV is working during XBMC start, everything is just fine
So.. how can I generate a correct xorg.conf with appropriate modelines

Thanks

Depends on your hardware, e.g. intel vs nvidia vs. radeon vs. fglrx

On nvidia: dump the edid with nvidia-xconfig and use it via xorg.conf
on fglrx: overwrite /etc/ati/DFPX.edid
on intel / radeon use drm_kms_helper
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

How do I do that with nvidia-xconfig
I see some options about edid but most of them will put those in bin file
Plain xorg.conf generated from nvidia-xconfig does not have any modelines

Thanks
