Hardware capable of down converting audio
#1
Hi everybody

I´ve used XBMC previously with different Nvidia ION setups. I´m currently using Apple TVConfused around the house but is thinking of going back to XBMC.

In the livingroom the XBMC hardware is going straight to my Denon AVR so its all good when using HD audio. But in the bedroom its gonna be connected directly to my TV using HDMI (both picture and audio, no AVR here). The TV naturally don't have any decoders for HD audio so I need to setup the XBMC/OpenELEC to do the downcoversion here.

Do I need something specific hardware-wise to down-convert DTS-HD and/or Dolby TrueHD? From what I´ve read the DTS-HD always includes a core DTS-track so that shouldn't require much, but what about TrueHD?

I was planning on using something like the Intel NUC´s (Haswell) or Zbox ID18.
