Linux Network Movie Playback access issue
#1
Good day all

I have a weird problem. I have XBMC mapped to my network drive through Windows Samba, it finds everything, and indexes it perfectly (due to the NFO files). I can browse the folder, copy paste etc....

When I go into XBMC and click on any one of those movies, it comes with a "failed to play" check the log. So to see if it was a playback issue I copied a movie over to my home folder (in the standard DVD folder format). Pointed XBMC to that folder, and it plays just fine.

If I play that file on my local drive, then go back to the one I couldn't play (no restart of XBMC) then the others play beautifully. If I log out and go back in, sometimes it will work, and sometimes it wont

I feel it is a permission issue, but where to start. Attached is the log folder, if anyone can help me point out the issue, it would be greatly appreciated. I am logged in as an administrator when all this happens

The Basics.

Ubuntu 13.10 x386 32 bit
Froto V12.

Both current as of 12/4/2013

P4 2.4ghz
Nvidia 7000 series video Card
500M HD

Here is the portion of the log file that has the part about accessing my Network drive (Netgear). I am trying to be as clear as possible, but it is a bit of a mess. I can post the entire log if you need it.

Regards

Pleas post a full debug log to pastebin or xbmclogs and get rid of the log in the above post.
If I have helped you or increased your knowledge, click the 'thumbs up' button to give thanks :) (People with less than 20 posts won't see the "thumbs up" button.)

No, not current at all...

Your also using a Frodo RC3, unsupported now, upgrade to Frodo 12.2 at least or Frodo 12.3 see http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=176721, also it seems like samba issues not XBMC related, in any case many dvd fixes went in after RC3 which is like ancient pre release.

And like nickr said, use a dammed pastebin for logs and post full debug logs only to pastebin, all else is not acceptable.
