Unable to install XBMC?
#1
Hallo,

i have currently jailbreaked my ATV2 with Firmware 5.2.1 - everthing seemd to work fine i have the red FC-Logo on the screen - botte is of course only tethered possible with this version

Now i have tried to install XBMC as described here
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...V2_version
I have done alle the commands in putty like described under 2.1. but at the end there was no XBMC icon at all when i rebooted the ATV2.

Then i tried to start again the first command
apt-get install wget

But now i get this error message in putty
E: Malformed line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/awkwardtv.list (URI)
E: The list of sources could not be read

What shall i do - pls help.

Hallo,

a further questions arised in the meantime... maybe you can help...

according to the xbmc wiki the userdata folder should be located in
/private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC/userdata/

but i have seen that my userdata folder is on
/private/var/stash/Applications/XBMC.frappliance/XBMCData/XBMCHome/userdata

Why is that?
And should i copy all my manual edited XMLs like advanancedseeting to this folder?

The one in XBMC.frappliance is the default data that comes with XBMC, and shouldn't be modified by the end user. Instead use the first location, in Preferences. Anything in the Preferences's userdata folder will have priority (more or less) over the XBMC.frappliance's userdata folder. Only use the Preferences's userdata folder.

Hallo,

in the end finally i found the necessary file
/private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC/userdata/

maybe it was created when i start xbmc for the second time

However at the moment runs everything smooth.

One last question:
When i try to close the xbmc-application with the sign in the lower left corner - i can see no different options for the closing - for example in the windows version i have 7 different options (Exit, New Start, Change Profile and so on). Is this normal that there are no options in the IOS-version?

Yes that is normal. You only can exit XBMC on the ATV2. (the other options are just not accessable to us developers so we have hidden them).

Is there any chance to get the shutdown menu back? I recall the menu being removed originally because the ATV2 can't be shutdown and also to prevent people from messing up tethered jailbreaks? It would be nice simply for "log-off", and some skins use the shutdown menu to show some custom/quick links to other areas, such as settings or triggering the screen saver.

Just a thought. It's still possible to access those things in other ways, so no worries.

This works for me > instead of this > http://mirrors.xbmc.org/ , use this > http://xbmc.os6.org/xbmc/

And your xbmc will still be useless. Just wait couple of days

Yeah I noticed lots of broken repositories. But when I use Xfintiy source, I can get most of them working including 1Channel, USTVNow .
What actually happened to mirrors.xbmc.org ,did they get a virus attack ?

I can't get paste the first line -

This is the error I keep getting no matter what I type -

E: Malformed line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/awkwardtv.list (dist parse)

I followed the instructions on this thread: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=104142

and I think this is the line that got me in trouble:

# rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/XBMC.list

So now I want to uninstall and start fresh with Kodi. How bad did I mess this up?? ha ha

That was wrong ...

Do as follows

Code:
rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/awkwardtv.list
echo "deb http://mirrors.kodi.tv/apt/atv2 ./" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/xbmc.list
apt-get update
apt-get install org.xbmc.kodi-atv2

You are the man...I mean. I guess you are the man, but even if you are a woman - you're still the man.

Worked perfectly. Appreciate it!
