What's with the graphics driver for Haswell CPUs? I give in. Tired to watch A Christmas Story Blu Ray iso on a new i5 Windows 8 build and graphics is a crapstorm!
I boot up my six year old laptop running Windows 7 and the iso blu-ray runs like a champ. Go figure.
I might have to delete Windows 8.1 and try OpenElec. Can't be any worse!
I'm giving up on Windows 8.1. It's just not working.
I'm just really frustrated.

It has nothing to do with Windows 8.1. It's the Haswell drivers. I'm on Windows 7 and it gives me glitches and screen tears...etc. Luckily this is my desktop and my HTPC will be AMD.

I'm back up and running.
Two things that went south: 1. NIC was not keeping a stable connection. I deleted the drivers and installed the new Intel NIC drivers which fixed that issue. Still had no to slow blu ray iso playback. 2. Fixed blu ray iso playback with: DXVA2 hardware acceleration / No. Adjust to display refresh rate / Yes.
That's got everything working beautifully again.
My frustration is gone.

Scratch that!
Found out a small ethernet switch was the blame. It was causing slow / no flow of data to my HTPC. Switched it out and all videos play again.
Back up and running.
