Question
Hi,

i want to use a htpc for my new LG 47LA6608 TV. Since i want to watch 3D (SBS) movies too and AEON MQx skin, i might need a powerful htpc.

Which one should i buy?

Gigabyte Brix GB-XM12-3227: Intel Core i3-3227U, 2x 1.90GHz with Intel HD Graphics 4000 (IGP), 4GB PC3-12800U

or

Zotac ZBOX nano AQ01: AMD A4-5000, 4x 1.50GHz with AMD Radeon HD 8330 (IGP), 4GB DDR3-1600

I will use openelec via usb-stick.

Thanks for your help.

I don't think anyone has tested that new kabini Zotac AQ01 yet. I just ordered one so I'll review it as soon as it arrives.

3D SBS replay is no more demanding than 2D - as SBS effectively squeezes two 3D eye views into the same space as a 2D stream by halving the horizontal resolution of the two eye views and putting them next to each other.

So a 1920x1080p video signal could contain two 960x1080p eye feeds if it carried SBS 3D content, and need the same decoding power as a 2D 1080p signal.

I don't run Aeon MQx but do run Aeon Nox, and I'm running OpenElec on a Celeron 1007U based Acer Revo with no problems. Plays 1080p, 720p, 1080i stuff no problems. (Needed a custom build to enable 50i to 50p and 60i to 60p VAAPI de-interlacing for smooth motion on native interlaced content - like sport, entertainment, news etc. via Live TV)

In the UK the Acer Revo RL 80 is down to £99 after cash back (includes 2GB RAM, 500GB HD, USB 3, GigE, Wifi (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth and can have a cheap CIR module installed internally for IR remote control including power on and power off)
