Just curious if anyone on the forums has either of these devices, and how they are doing for streaming media to XBMC in HD?

I really like the Drobo 5N's ease of use and the fact that if you want to upgrade a drive from say 2TB drive to a 4TB drive that all you do is swap it out and the Drobo will resync itself.

But i have heard that the Synology Diskstation is faster by about 10-20%, has more apps, and is more for the true techie.

I love reading the threads on this forum! A lot of helpful people and information on this site!

I have a Drobo which is connected by FireWire to an iMac. Then I've got a pc downstairs in the lounge which I have xbmc on. Everything connected with cat5. Playback is instantaneous and skipping through movies is quick too. In my experience it's been perfect

What kind of Hard drives are you using? WD Red 5900 rpm?
