Intel NUC - no ethernet!
#1
Hi,

I have bought the DC3217BY. Whilst installing I realised it had no ethernet Laugh

If I get a thunderbolt to ethernet adapter (e.g the Apple one), will it work 100% fine by just plugging it in? (i.e will it not need drivers)

Also, if it works fine, will it be slower than onboard ethernet? As I want to stream large mkv's from my server... slow is not good

Thanks

Yeah it should work, you might have to install the drivers yourself, but it will be just as fast. It would be the same procedure as getting the thundbolt adapter to work under bootcamp.

Hi

I will be running Openelec (as I will only be using this nuc for xbmc, so don't need windows).

Can I install the drivers under openelec?

Should just work. Don't worry about speed. Thunderbolt is faster than gigabit!!
