Channels won't play
#1
I set up ServerWMC and pvr.wmc earlier and was having some success with them, but then, suddenly, my channels won't load. Every channel just gives me the error: "This channel cannot be played. See the log for details." Here's my log: http://pastebin.com/FP5TmGdR. I have tried doing a fresh install of XBMC and the pvr.wmc plugins, but nothing is working. Any chance somebody could help walk me through whatever may be going wrong? Thanks!

Can you post a link to the serverwmc log instead? Also check to make sure wmc can still play the channels.

to get mine to work i had to take check-mark out of Pre-start tuners then do a reboot,

I'm having a similar problem (I think).

Everything set up and I can view all channels on WMC on my desktop, but although EPG data is transferred to the XBMC front end on my HTPC I can't actually view any channels or recordings.

Log file says the following:

Any ideas?

ETA: In the above log "SERVER" is actually my HTPC running the client, it is named "Server" as it is an HP Microserver which doubles as the HTPC. "DESKTOP" is the computer running WMC and WMC Server. I appreciate this is perhaps a little confusing without an explanation!

OK, so some more info...

everything works fine on xmbc on the local machine.

could the issue be that I have the windows version of the client, but am running xbmc on the remote htpc through windows home server 2011? do i need some codecs or the like?

@therealpigdog

Please don't paste long logs to this forum, instead paste the WHOLE server log to pastebin.com, or the like, and put a link to the file here.

I think the issue is that the recorded tv folder is not accessible by SERVER. On SERVER make sure you can access this folder
\\DESKTOP\Recorded TV\
If that works then post the whole server log after a fail on pastebin and put the link here.

Same issue here; all channels used to work fine; upgraded to XBMC 12.3 and now they don't. Reloaded XBMC, WMCServer, and WMCClient. Media Center has the same problem; will display some channels but not all channels. Log says 'ts' file is missing. Tested access to recorded tv folder on server and can see no problems; revised file date indicates files in the recorded tv folder have been accessed by either the server or the client.

Could this be a Ceton tuner or digital tuning adapter issue? I know this isn't the proper forum for either of these items and will pursue a different route if this is the problem.

If it's happening in Windows Media Center as well then yeah dont worry about XBMC and this addon for now, you need to get things working in WMC first. Have you tried rescanning channels in WMC? Do you have a reception/tv signal strength problem maybe?

TS file is missing because the remuxer cant find any data in the WTV file because there is no data coming through for the channel from WMC. The channel (ESPNHD for example) isnt showing up as copy protected though which is a good sign. Hopefully you just have to reconfigure things in WMC or someone has tripped over an aerial cable or something? lol

Hey all,

Had a similar issue - you need to share without requiring a password on the windows server pc if you are going to stream to non-windows systems. The wiki explains how to do this but quickly - Get to the sharing options by right clicking on a folder, properties, sharing. Then click the "Network and Sharing Center" option at the bottom (you can also access this through the control panel). Scroll down through options and disable password protected sharing. You should then be able to see channels and play recordings on non-windows systems.

Hope this helps!

Thumbs Up
Thanks for this solution. It's weird I swear I was watching live TV under Frodo with previous version of the add-on but couldn't ever get it going with Gotham. Searched on Google for 'StreamStartError' and found this after sorting through the results. Never would have thought of this, haven't played with those settings since first using Windows 7 back in 2009.
