Now, direct BD playback in Linux is feasible with PlayDisc and having MakeMKV decrypting in the background. See here
However, BD PlayDisc-Resume is not working. It's annoying to always re-start the movie at the beginning.
Back in 2010, the user Magnetism created a MakeMKVBluray plugin that ALWAYS gives the option to resume or start from the beginning. See here
Screenshot:
If Magnetism doesn't mind, why not just use his subroutine to automaticaly bookmark the play position and resume instead of leaving the PlayDisc-Resume broken or trying to reinvent the wheel?
His MakeMKVBluray plugin still works great today with the latest Blurays, but it's a streaming solution where the stream can stall if trying too much to rewind/fast forward.
