AMLogic hardware video decoding in nightly builds
#1
Star
As of the 12-29-13 (compiled on 12-30-13) nightly build (wiki), AMLogic devices are now supported for hardware video decoding in the normal XBMC for Android installs from our servers. This also means that there will be one build "to rule them all" when XBMC v13 comes out.

As always, be sure to backup your userdata folder (wiki) before using a nightly build.

Be sure to thank Davilla and Pivos for this new addition.

Thanks Ned, Davilla, XBMC Team and Pivos.

I encountered with some trouble while trying to test this on Ainol Hero 10 with CM10.1.
When starting a video I'm getting black screen but the audio is played.

Somehow the system decides to forbid XBMC root access.

Is a root access is a requirement for XBMC so it would able to recognize the Amlogic SoC properly ?

I'm currently not too thrilled to investigate (and post logs) as this Android fw is unstable and I will flash something else later.

There was an issue that should be resolved in next nightly hopefully.

Does this support cover all Amlogic chips or just specific ones ?

I'm interested if it supports the 8726-M8 / M801/802?

Hehe, I only started searching today, but I'm not even sure if these chips have surfaced into reality yet.. judging by your reply I guess they haven't Smile

So, I guess the currently supported chips are 8726-M1,M3 and M6/MX ?

The nightly build mentioned by Ned in the first post works great on my Xios DS!
I really enjoy using Airplay with my iPad! Thanks for that.

What might be something to fix is, that the Audio is slightly Offset by 0.225 sec.

So from "12-29-13 (compiled on 12-30-13) nightly build" all the nightly builds supports AMLogic devices for hardware video decoding ?
Or its just one you mentioned ? Thanx.

It was disabled for a while due to conflicting issues.
I see it has now been re-enabled as of of today.
