I remember a setting that permitted you to change port number in XBMC - according to http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Webserver it's Settings > Services > Webserver > Allow control of XBMC via HTTP but there's no other fields to fill in there.

Am I missing something?

Under Gotham not all settings options show by default. Increase your settings level to find the hidden options.
