Solved Remote Keyboard does not work when used with XBMC Gotham
#16
Has this issue been fixed or still pending?

At this time I can use remote to type but remote can't submit and make native iPad keyboard disappear thus evertime a search is required we must physically go to iPad and close keyboard.

This is the same issue I am having. No it's not fixed yet. It's good to hear that I'm not the only one experiencing the issue.

Memphiz, if you're listening, any updates on this?

Are there any plans to bring this experience back to Gotham?
This could be because you do not have enabled the option "Allow programs on other systems to control XBMC" under Settings> Services> Remote Control. When this option is enabled, xbmc sends the notification that an input is required and then the remote app pop up the keyboard after receiving this event.

I tried this and it does not work. Does it work for you under Gotham?

I'm Running iOS.. Not Linux per my original post. Have you tested it under iOS?

Nope, I don't have any XBMC running on iOS. Usually I'm able to test under linux, osx, rpi and windows.

Yea, as Ned has stated in previous posted on this thread. This looks to be an iOS only issue.

Looks like TV out is causing the issue. Once I disconnect and allow XBMC to run directly on my 4s it works. I wanted to thank Memphiz for being patient and methodically working through the issue to identify the specific configuration for which the issue occurs. There is an open ticket in bug tracker so hopefully there will be a fix soon.

Updated: Per Memphiz there is a fix coming

I can find no way to make the xbmc remote keyboard entry work on a search input. Anyone know how to make this work?

I have no problems.

At the bottom right of the remote control display you will see 4 icons, a COG (for settings), a WAGGING FINGER (for gestures) and the next icon is a KEYBOARD (for input). Press the latter while in 'search' mode and voila (!) you get the virtual keyboard.
