Remote Control options for Openelec
#1
There are a lot of threads open on the different remotes but I am a bit frustrated because I cannot find how to set up either a PS3 remote or an IR remote on an Openelec system.

Do I need specific drivers/software or hardware? I see a lot of threads where users have posted they can get BT and IR remote to work on openelec. But how? Do we have detailed instructions somewhere? What remotes are compatible? What kind of set up is required?

I am desperate for help and it would be great if someone can help with this.

Thanks.

No you do not need any special drivers any media center remote should work just fine. You just need a remote and an IR reciver.

This is the one that I use and it works well right out of the box.

You should really look into FLIRC. Basically you setup an existing remote you already use to emulate the keystrokes of the keyboard. It's easier than it sounds. I use one of the unused AV settings on my DirecTV remote and so my single remote controls: DirecTV, TV, Stereo and XBMC box.
