On my main screen I want to be able to have Movies, Cartoons, Chick Flicks, Documentaries, Comdey.. Etc etc

I realize there is a way to do this with smart playlists but this seems less than ideal for me because I don't want the non movie items to be duplicated under movies as well.

You have to rebuild a custom Movie menu with a Movie smart playlist. This smart playlist have to exclude all the items that are in other smart playlists.
