Linux Install XBMCbuntu from Ubuntu minimal 12.04Lts
#1
Hi guys,

I have an old Fujitsu Amilo M7400 and I tried XBMCbuntu and it worked like a charm - light, smooth and really functional on this old machine.
Now, has this is a no PAE processor I had to use the xbmcbuntu-11.0.iso wich is based on Ubuntu 11.04 (or 11.10) not supported anymore and xbmcbuntu-12 is PAE kernel and nvidia/ati optimized.
and wen I tried to upgrade to 12.04 it broke the XBMC and the LXDE also.

Then I tried the other way around. Lubuntu 12.04 and then XBMC but with 2 problems: no smoothness and no direct entrance to XBMC.

So, having Ubuntu 12.04 minimal (no GUI) installed is there any way to "transform it" in XBMCbuntu" with this "light version" of LXDE?

appreciate any suggestions Wink

After some investigation I found this topic: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=130132

I installed xbmc package and no GUI came along with XBMC.
Now I remember that I found some "xbmcbuntu" named packages that now I can't find.
Is there any other repository I should add besides "ppa:xbmc-team/ppa" ?
Any XBMCbuntu specific repos?

xbmc adds itself as a session type to the session manager.
Just install any desktop as well and you can switch between the desktop and xbmc in the session manager (eg, for instance lightdm)
