Using XBMCBuntu... Follow instructions, but MythTV not connecting to backend
#1
i am confused because i'm following the steps listed here

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=PVR/Backend

which leads me here

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=PVR/Backend/MythTV

and essentially says that you just go browse to the PVR client addon and enable it. So where is the back end?

i get the dreaded "failed to connect to mythtv backend" error appearing on the screen and nothing works.

I read that Frodo includes this stuff and the instructions for the backend provided on these say absolutely nothing about having to go figure out where to get the backend separate from the menu, so i'm lost.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

EDIT: well apparently i lack reading comprehension...

my eyes scrolled right past this
1 Installing MythTV

MythTV can be setup on a variety of Linux distributions and also on Mac OS X. The MythTV Wiki page has several pages of detailed instruction sets for various distros and tuner types.

wonderful.. i thought XBMCBuntu was going to prevent me from figuring out how to install things on linux. here i go. tried to delete post. could not.

Frodo includes various PVR addons, one of which is for mythtv, but you have to install that first. It does actually tell you in the second link you posted to go to the mythtv wiki site for instructions on installing and configuring it.

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Packages Suggest you have a read there first.

On XBMC with any PVR option, it relies on a backend, and any backend you choose has to be installed first.

Refunds on your purchase price at exit.
