Unable to download and install add-ons from xbmc
#1
I had previously had issues with getting add-ons to show up at all. Strange enough I have to do a forced refresh for them to show up when I start up XBMC. Not a huge deal, but now I am unable to download add-ons at all. They attempt to download then hang for about 10 seconds on 0% and then fail. I did a clean install of XBMC and still getting the same issue. I am on Ubuntu 12.04

Seems like the problem worked itself out kind of. I dont know how but I am able to download add-ons. Sometimes they will download and sometimes they wont. If I try enough times then I seem to eventually be able to. Strange enough the add-ons i was able to download were skins but when I try to download them I get a error message saying some files are missing. So what is going on here?

Update: Now I'm unable to download them again? Is there a issue with the add-ons server or something. Why is this such a problem. All I want to do is download add-ons from the XBMC repository. This has been a issue for the last few days now.

Debug log needed

Sorry about that! I should have known better!

I used google drive since pastbin would not allow me to post the whole log and was not sure what was needed.

Delete the commonaddoncache.db in the temp folder, Where XBMC log is.

Edit Its called commoncache.db
It may not do anything but doesn't hurt to get rid of it as it will be recreated.

seriously. where do you even get the idea that deleting that is even related?
show me the science behind it.

i already told you last time that it is totally unrelated!

@Martijn

The science is called experimenting

And that was a user given advice to me which sorted out some nonsense with downloading/adoons and such, so at best it doesn't hurt to try. << that's the key right there... Try learn/improve and try again.

Seriously, YOU being the expert on this sort of stuff you should educate ppl, not berate them at every chance you get, just because you dont like them... Even if that is me and Im specially hated in your heart.

I wouldn't care so much tbh but -- what's worst is you made this comment and similar "Last time" and provided no actual insight or a fix/workaround or anything constructive. And you are the expert!

Note:
Im available on IRC to sort out differences in any friendly manner once and for all..

@jsc315

Really sorry for offtopic stuff being aired here, feel free to disregard it and sorry for that as well, its really unhelpful on both counts Wink

For me it looks like you have either network problems or its one of the xbmc mirrors.
Here is a subset of your xbmc.log

Could you try a few of these URLs in your browser?
Please do it on _the same machine_ like your XBMC is running!

E.g:
http://mirrors.xbmc.org/addons/frodo/ski...y/icon.png
http://mirrors.xbmc.org/addons/frodo/plu....4.zip.md5

If you open these files in your browser you should be redirected to a chosen mirror (so the URL gets changes automatically), please reply here with the final URL.

EDIT:
After a closer look I more think that you have really network problems, even "http://feeds.xbmc.org/xbmc" could not be loaded - this URL isn't part of the mirror-system.
Maybe a DNS/Gateway problem on your XBMC's station's OS?

@sphere Thank you for all your help. Seems like some applications just have a problem for some reason for whatever reason that is. I have a similar issue with Spotify and Plex. I really do appreciate all that help. Strange why it only specific applications. Anyways looks like I have to work to do and try and figure out what is wrong on my network. Thank you again.
