Using Gotham/Ubuntu/MythTV
When accessing a channel that is unavailable (off air/unsubscribed/whatnot). XBMC takes 1-2 minutes to timeout, displaying a couple cannot connect to backend messages, before returning control to the user.
Would be nice if this had a timeout/retry configuration option - either through the gui or advancedsettings.
A nice to have would be to have it return to its previous state (EPG, last channel, etc) with one of the usual messages saying it could not communicate with the backend.
Not sure if this handling would be through XBMC or the Mythc plugin or a combination of the both.
