No Live TV with new WMC backend
#1
My PC (Win 8.1-86_64) has the latest WMC server (build 1115) software installed.
Switch on my XBMC and upon selecting a channel it goes through its usual circle spin at the bottom right of the screen and after few minutes
pops up with a message about not finding any stream. Below is the relevant piece of the log file.
Now if I connect remotely to another WMC server (Win 7-86_64 build 1101) on my home network it streams LIVE Tv without a hitch.
Why is this happening?
Can you help please with your suggestions and insights. Thanks for your time and patience.

'Why is this happening' is a really good question. I have a feeling this file is empty, but if you have it, can you put it on my g-drive?

LiveTV_Media_Digital Cable_702_2014_01_22_01_48_49.wtv (it should be in the savedfordebug folder in tempxbmc)

link to my g-drive (let me know when the file is there):

So just to clarify, you are trying to get a 2nd backend WMC/ServerWMC working and getting this error... but when you point this XBMC at another backend you already had working, everything is OK then?

It says the WTV file is empty, are you getting a good aerial signal? Is live TV in WMC on this new backend working ok?

Also it's best to submit logs to pastebin and post the link here. The forum rules are that you shouldnt post log output directly in the posts

Pardon my delayed response.
@krustyreturns,
I have uploaded the file you wanted to your google drive. Please let me know if you have actually received it.
The file in question is named - LiveTV_Media_Digital Cable_702_2014_01_22_11_34_45.wtv. I had to replicate the error hence the discrepancy in the names.
@scarecrow420
Here is the pastebin lik to the log file as requested by the forum rules my apologies again.

Yes you are correct-my localhost backend is the problem but not the remote one on my home network. I use the SilicondustHD Prime as my TV tuner and yes the cable signals are very good. Also the Live TV on the WMC on this localhost backend is working fine.

Please to let me know if I need to provide you with any more information for assistance.
Thanks again for this reach out for help. Appreciate it a lot.

I did receive the file but it is empty, which agrees with the log. I cannot understand why the new version would cause the problem but the old version would not. Can you try installing the old version (1101) and this machine, just to make sure it really is the version of the program that is causing the problem? If you do it, post a link to this log too. Thanks.

After the channel fails to launch have you tried selecting it again? I have experienced times when I've had to select a channel 3 or 4 times before it tunes, I should really grab a log when it happens but it's rare. Seems like maybe a timing issue where it times out too fast.
If I have been of help, please add to my reputation as a way of saying thanks, it's free.

Sorry Dillgaf, that's not the case, it still doesn't connect despite various attempts.

I guess I misunderstood your first post. I thought the point of your first post is that the new version of swmc is not working but the old version is. But the log you just posted shows the old version has the exact same error as the new version. I have been trying to figure out how the new version could be causing this problem, when really they both have the problem. So its really a problem on this one particular computer right?

My Home network:
-PC1 has the latest swmc installed. PC2 - the client uses the swmc on PC1 and PC2's XBMC's LIVE TV works successfully.
-PC2 has the latest swmc installed and it being the client and the server cannot access XBMC's LIVE TV feed.
The above is true for the swmc version 1101 as well.
I hope it helps. Thank you for your efforts again.

Yes, that does help. I'll save my questions about why you want two serverwmc's running for later.

On PC2 - when you run with both server and client on this same machine - did you remember to change the IP address on the client to the local machine IP (not the IP of PC1)?

Yes I tried it both ways (for just in case) once with 127.0.0.1 and its (i.e. PC2's) home network based address 192.168.*.* and not with the PC1's network address.

Im not that familiar with the setups you guys in the states have (being a plain old Aussie with digital terrestrial over the air broadcast!) but form reading your posts it sounds like you are using a network attached TV tuner with a cable card in it correct? Are you using this same tuner from both PC1 and PC2 or do they each have their own tuner?

Focusing on the one where things are not working, you said that WMC is working OK with viewing live TV... How about if you make a recording in WMC and then try to play back that WTV file recording through XBMC?

Another thing to test is to use XBMC to set a recording... then when that recording finishes, see if it can be played back in XBMC and in WMC.

Yes, krusty I am using a network based tuner with a cable card. Yes they both i.e. PC1 & PC2 access the same tuner.
I tired shutting the swmc on PC1 and have it on exclusively on PC2 so that there is not conflict (just in case), still no joy PC2 still doesn't provide Live Tv on its XBMC.
I will try your suggestion about recording a wtv on PC2 and using its native XBMC to view it.
I will try the other suggestion as well use PC1's XBMC to do a recording and use the WMC and XBMC of PC2 to play it....this i can tell works as I view via XBMC on PC2 some of the wtv from PC1.

Scarecrow forgive me for referring you as krusty in my previous post.
I tried what you suggested-
"....Focusing on the one where things are not working, you said that WMC is working OK with viewing live TV... How about if you make a recording in WMC and then try to play back that WTV file recording through XBMC?...."
XBMC can play back fine the recording from WMC.

Thanks for our help again.
