Win HD5450 Will it play 3D?
#1
Hello,

I have a GT610 and it automatically plays 3D fine but the little fan on it is really noisy and i'm trying to keep the noise down to a minimum, Ive just seen the HD5450 silent which says its 3D compatible but i think its only HDMI 1.3, Will that be able to play 3D still ? I will be playing full 3D Blu-Rays.

Thanks in advance

Sorry, 3d is not supported on the amd hd 5000 series. You need at least a 6000 serie gpu to play 3d content. however, the successor of the 5450 is the 6450. And that model supports 3d out of the box with amd hd3d.
Look at this page for the specifications:

So if you buy a 6450 for the same price of an 5450 you can play 3d very well.

good luck!

Thanks for the reply. Looks good will give it a try, i see they do a 1GB version and 2GB version. Is there any need for a 2GB version? I'll only be playing Blu-Rays / 3D Blu-Rays, Will be running on 46" LG TV at 1080p

I only have a PicoPSU 150w, Will a 2GB require more power?

No, 1GB should be enough. TDP should be around the same. 1GB version draws 31W under full load http://www.hwcompare.com/10295/radeon-hd...0-oem-1gb/
This 2GB version claims to draw only 18W (http://www.club-3d.com/index.php/product...ition.html )

Ok thanks, ill go for for 1GB version then as its £10 cheaper. Many thanks for your advice.

They have 2 versions, XFX and Sapphire, is 1 better than the other or are they pretty much the same?

If the nVidia 610 plays 3D fine (and yes it does), why just don't get a passive 610?
Kodi 19.1 Android/Google(TV) [ Shield TV Pro [64b] / Mi Box S [32b] / Mi Projector / Fire 4k TV stick / CC with Google TV ]
Kodi 19 [3D MVC build] Shuttle DH270 [Kaby Lake i3-7300/HD630 graphics - W10-1903]

The passive 610 has a huge heatsink which from what i tell won't fit in the N54L Server.

Most AMD Cards have a maximum of 2048x1152 - under very special circumstances you could get arround 4K into the decoder, but from my knowledge no driver for now does support that.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

So are you saying i should get a nvidia card instead?

I got the 6450 card today but its still not automatically changing to 3D when 3D content is detected like the GT610 did.

When i had the 610 i had to run the nvidia 3D software to setup the 3D display. Does AMD have anything similar ? can't seem to find anything.

When i get the option to play movie in 3D it says no 3D monitor detected?
