Correcting low voices on down mixed to stereo encodes
#1
An issue of mine for some content is the incredibly low voice audio in comparison to sound effects and music. Going way back to my xbox1 days this has always been a problem.

Knowing its purely an encoding issue, are there settings within XBMC that I can play with that may push voices a little louder? Or once it’s down mixed like that the damage is done?

Thanks,

Yes, there is a way.

When playing a video fullscreen, go to onscreen audio settings (in confluence its the little speaker symbol) and then put "volume gain" up to 10 db or something like that (the menu item says something like that, my xbmc is in german so i dont know for sure, but its the second row option). The higher you set the gain, the more limitation of the audio material is happening, that means less dynamic audio and that means: Louder voices in comparison to the music/soundfx Wink attention: if you set it too high, there will be no dynamic at all and it will sound terribly when distortion sets in.

Hope this helps.
