Gotham Beta TESTING THREAD
Select Level 4.1 @ High + Slow and + CFR (constant frame rate - that's most likely the issue here) in combination with a quality of 20 (very good) or 21 (a little bit worse) - all should be set. Don't touch the rest of the settings. Autocrop is also most of them time right.

Can you verify with current OpenELEC? You are running a 14.1 version, correct? Is that the fernetmenta version with swfilter enabled? If yes, does turning that setting off - help?
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

if I set it via cli using something like "xrandr -d 0:0 --output DVI-I-1 --mode 0x281" it works fine.

this should fix it hopefully : https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/4410

Has this made it into Beta 3 ? (I resumed it missed Beta 2) or do I need to do nightlys (it says Beta2 on the pull) because I still have this problem. Sad

yes, its in beta3

Hmm it still fails for me.

I shall do a clean ~/.xbmc/ after the weekend (family use the box heavily over the weekend) and post debug logs if its still there.

I keep these files named as *-poster.jpg, poster.jpg, *-fanart.jpg, fanart.jpg for all my movies. Beta 1 can get the files, bug beta 2 don't:

beta 1: http://i.imgur.com/nz9VTzw.jpg

beta 2: http://i.imgur.com/pHPk1lo.png

(edit) example of a file dir: http://i.imgur.com/JLQqb7F.png

I have 5 box, being 2 in windows (only for test) and 3 Linux. All 3 linux boxes can get the files, but not the 2 running windows. Can't find anything useful in log...

Also, after a rebuild in my collection, I notice that the option "dateadded" in advancedsettings doesn't work anymore. Looks like was broken in beta 2 (i'm 99% sure it was working in beta 1). It is stuck in <dateadded>0</dateadded>. Even setting to 1, still using the current datetime when adding a video.

Cheers.
The same is happening in BETA 3 in Windows.
Fresh install (deleted userdata folder), copy the advancedsettings.xml. No covers in Windows for previous downloaded .jpg + .nfo.
I do have covers for fresh crapped movies. But not if is a movie with a .nfo and a previows downloaded poster.jpg or filename-poster.jpg.
This doesn't happen in linux boxes.

Cheers.

Thanks for the advice.

For OpenELEC or for Ubuntu?

On Ubuntu I am running off of the nightly build PPA. I don't see that option anywhere in my video settings either.

For OpenELEC, I am running the 10/02/2013 popcornmix build http://netlir.dk/rbej/builds/?dir=Gotham%20Popcornmix/
Which uses the omxplayer, I think.

I wasn't planning on updating my pi's until Gotham was released, just don't have the time or the need at the moment. However maybe I can find the time to put a stock beta build on it and see what happens.

Right new fresh clean ~/.xbmc/ and this is still failing for me in Beta 3

One debug log Smile

SDL is way too stupid for driving two outputs. Either switch off the one not required by XBMC or use my master branch.

EDIT: SDL + our bits surrounding it.

Ok I shall switch back to your branch.

Cheers.

My Macbook Pro, or my Macbook Air (I'm in the process of switching the machine for XBMC, that has to do with the colorspace issue that I mentioned above, but it doesn't matter too much here) are connected to an HDMI Audio extractor and from there HDMI goes to the TV and optical audio to the AVR. When I switch off the TV the audio extractor fakes a display so that audio can still be received.
Under Frodo it works perfectly: I switch off the TV and with a slight pause audio resumes and all is well.
It does so as well under Gotham beta 2, the problem arises when I switch the TV back on. The picture comes back but the playback stops and I can not resume. When I try to play an audio file afterwards it comes back with the error that one or more items failed to play. When I start a video there is no sound and the picture hangs. The only remedy is to quit and relaunch XBMC.

Here is a log where this happens: http://www.xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=160271 (launch, start music, switch off TV, switch TV back on, playback stops without my doing and can't be turned on, quit)
There is no problem when the Laptop screen is on, here is a log of the same steps with the screen active: http://www.xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=160277 (XBMC draws to the TV/fake screen too, the laptop screen is just present)
Here it works in the first off/on cycle and stops on the second: http://www.xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=160267 (maybe because fullscreen visualisation had not kicked in the first cycle?) I made this mainly to test if it had something to do with my skin, but it happened too under Confluence.

Again, all of this works under Frodo.

OS X.9.2, XBMC beta 2

Thank you very much

Seems resolved in Beta 3. Awesome!
I think it was this issue: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=185395

Hi,

I love the new XBMC, but there is one bug that I realy want to see fixed in the new beta:
http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/14762
Would it be possible to have a look at it?
It basically means that if you convert a 3D SBS movie to 2D with the new option in xbmc 13, the screen shows one half of the movie, like it should, but the subtitles are still shown in full, causing it to be printed twice (one for each side of the 3D SBS)

I remember now why I used the team-xbmc and not fernetmenta-master. on the latter my remote will not work (Flirc) until I force one screen off using

Quote:xrandr -d 0:0 --output HDMI-0 --off
xrandr -d 0:0 --output DVI-I-1 --mode 0x281

any idea why, and how I can go about fixing this ?
Reply
I can think of one reason, fernets drops SDL idk if that would have any bearing on flirc but clearly it appears so.

I'm having an issue where some .mkv files will cause XBMC to freeze up. The issue happens in 12.3 as well but I was hoping I would luck out and it would be fixed in 13.0 however it isn't. When it freezes up I can press 'O' to display the codec information but pressing 'X' to stop playback doesn't do anything. I end up having to force kill XBMC. Even if the playback issue can't be solved, if it would dump me back to the menu or something in this case, that would be helpful.

Here is the debug log: http://www.xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=162976

This is on Linux. I tried turning hardware acceleration off and that didn't help. Here is the media info for the file: http://www.xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=162982

I tried taking the file and re-compressing it using Handbrake and it it doesn't lock up anymore.

Little off topic but I decided to post an answer here because other flirc users may run into the same problem. Flirc pretends to be a keyboard and an application don't get keyboard events if not focused. Move the mouse pointer into the XBMC window and you'll get the events. For further questions on this please open a separate thread.
