Hello everyone,

on my side I get the message 'remote share : could not connect to network server .
I use a shared library on mysql .
I started again from scratch . I installed xbmc 13.0 gotham -beta1 git :20140303 - 128426f .
After I installed the advancedsettings file with the same information that I had when Frodo 12.3.
XBMC at startup and creates MyMusic46 Myvideos78 on my remote sql . So far everything is ok.
Then I added the source on the nas my network , I indicate that this is a movie category, then I chose the scrip 'The movie database . Then I update the content .
When I look directly into the tables of the database information is well presented but when I click on the movie menu I get the error message ' remote share : could not connect to network server . If I directly into file I see the contents of the directory .
I tried all available skins without success
I shared library in a long time, I 've never had this problem. Do you have an idea. I hope you forgive me my bad english .
Thank you to all those who could help me .

CeriZe

XBMC is installed on a windows 7 test
My NAS is a synologie

@genka: Next time, please read at least the release announcement. Also thanks for cutting the start of your log, where the device enumeration is shown: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=PulseAudio

Yes, later I thought that I posted the wrong part of the log. Since I don't even have the UI navigation sound, the problem is not related to playing video. This is the beginning of the log:

I read Pulseaudio article yesterday. The GUI screenshots probably refer to a full Ubuntu, in XBMCbunutu volume control I don't have these options.
I think my problem is with this:

Code:
pactl list sinks
Sink #0
        State: SUSPENDED
        Name: alsa_output.pci-0000_00_08.0.analog-stereo
              ...
              ...
              ...
pacmd list-sink-inputs
Welcome to PulseAudio! Use "help" for usage information.
>>> 0 sink input(s) available.
But I don't know how to fix it.
Judging from the article, XBMC defaults to PulseAudio even in dedicated XBMC installs. It doesn't explain how to switch back to alsa.

Post full output of pactl list sinks and also tell which device you want to use.

Edit: I am not sure, why you have pulseaudio running on xbmcbuntu

sudo apt-get install pavucontrol will get you a mixer.

Any other complaints of overly bright video? My videos had nice blacks before but now with beta 1 I notice on both my TV's that all videos appear too bright. Is there a setting I have to change or do I manually have to select a new brightness setting somewhere?

I did a standard install of XBMCBuntu. The only post-install problem I had was with Nvidia drivers. Gotham-alpha worked perfectly. Upgraded to Beta with apt-get upgrade. I didn't do anything unusual. I assumed that switching to Pulseaudio was a Beta feature.
pactl output:

Looks like pavucontrol can't be ran from a terminal, I'm on ssh from work now.

The only device in your pactl is your Analog soundcard - is this the device you want to use? (1)

To clarify here: xbmc does not depend on pulseaudio. It will only use it, if it's already there. Do you need it? (2)

If you don't need it: sudo apt-get remove pulseaudio libasound2-plugins

I marked the questions I have with (1), (2) as you skip answering at most half of them.

I noticed that audio crossfade does not crossfade when manually switching in the middle of the current track to another track. The crossfade only happens at the end of the current track when xbmc (automatically) switches to the next track.

This is a different behavior from xbmc 12.3 and imho removes a very important use case for the crossfade option.

Tried Beta 1, crashed immediately upon starting something. Disabling VPDAU & VAAPI is a workaround.

libva info: VA-API version 0.33.0
libva info: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva info: Trying to open /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri/nvidia_drv_video.so
libva info: Found init function __vaDriverInit_0_32
libva info: va_openDriver() returns 0

Ouh noez.

Please disable VAAPI, that wrapper you use for your nvidia card, causes that issue. Disable VAAPI and keep VDPAU enabled. And post another log.

Yes, possibly sounds like the same issue I'm seeing (see post#46). In my testing DVD iso playback is not effected. I'm going to do some more testing tonight and see what/if other file formats are being played back incorrectly.

Is anyone else seeing this?

fritsch, sorry for not answering the questions completely, I was between the tasks at work. I posted the sink list without actually looking in it and didn't notice that it only had analog audio in it- because all AV equipment at home was off. I'll do more troubleshooting when I get home.
Judging from what I read in Wiki, I don't need pulseaudio. I'll start by taking it out.
