Missing some metadata (directors)
#1
Hi, I'm running Frodo 12.3 on windows 7. I have all my movies as ripped ISO files in a single directory on my network. Everything works well and the default scraper identifies the movies correctly but there seems to be some metadata that is missing. For example, I'm using the default Confluence skin, and I would like to be able to filter when selecting a movie. I currently can only filter via year and genre (which lists a limited number of titles). However, I cannot filter by Director. When I go to moviedb.org, the information exists for director, so I'm not sure if XBMC can't access it??

I would appreciate any tips or pointers.

Thanks.

That's very strange. I assume you are talking about Advanced Filtering, as described here:

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Adv..._filtering

I've checked my system (Confluence, Frodo 12.2) and it shows advanced filtering allowing:

Title. Rating. In progress. Year. Genre. Actor. Director.

'Tags' is blanked out since I haven't defined any for any of the movies.

If you bring up the information for a movie what does it show for 'Director'? If it is blank for all of them then I assume that the Advanced Filter will have 'director' blanked out. But if the scraper has retrieved other info for the movie, such artwork, description and genre, then I don't see why it didn't retrieve 'director'.

I tend to use Ember Media Manager, which creates NFO files with all the relevant info and get XBMC to read that, instead of it doing the scraping.

Hi, thanks for your reply. When I click directors, nothing comes up, so that's why I'm assuming that the default scraper is not collecting or recording this information. Oddly, I do have the year for some but not all of the movies (slightly over half). I would prefer not to have to make a new directory for each ISO and generate NFOs if possible. Any ideas??

Most of my movies are in MKV format. I don't have any ISO files and each one is in a separate directory/folder that has the name of the movie and the year in brackets.

As I said I use EMBER media manager to scrape the info and besides the fanart, posters, actors etc. it also gets directors.

What information has been scraped for your ISOs? You should have:

Fanart.
Poster.
Director.
Writer.
Studio.
Genre.
Year.
Runtime.
Rating.
Tag line.
Plot outline.
MPAA rating.

You should see all of this info when you bring up the info for a movie (use the context menu or 'i').
