The only thing that stands out from the log is that tv tunes runs just before the playback stops.

Try disabling (or uninstalling) tv tunes. If that doesn't work, disable Resume in the 4oD settings and try again.

Ok have found that this is not specific to this addon - relates to having 'show information' as the default select action for videos:

Hi,

I was watching a program on 4oD on Thursday night (29/05) and it was working fine but when I went to view it last night 4oD wasn't working.
I had a quick look through the logs and found this:

I'm guessing Channel 4 have changed something!

Just thought I'd better report it - maybe you already know about it?

As far as I can see, the plugin scripts try to access the mobile Channel 4 site at m.channel4.com/4od which is no longer available. Could the .py scripts be modified to access the main Channel 4 site?

The situation is as it was before I changed the plugin to use the mobile site. The main site uses encrypted HDS for streaming. No progress can be made until or unless someone cracks the encryption or otherwise determines the decryption key(s).

Once you have the asset number, the m3u8 handed to you by 4OD consists of an ordered list of encrypted .ts files. Before each group of .ts files is a key file which is a n AES 128-bit key. If you download that and apply against the corresponding .ts file, the video segment decodes perfectly.

BUT. Getting the m3u8 from the asset has eluded me. It seems to have some kind of 256-byte key as part of the URL, but I've no idea where than comes from.

Bugger, this is disappointing news, like others I was getting used to watching again

I've tweeted 4oD that I'm not happy about their decision - doubt that'll change their mind though. Thanks anyway Mossy, here's hoping there will be a fix sometime in the future.

Hi - have you considered taking the embedded browser approach (like the Sky Go project - see http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=189805 which uses a Silverlight web player as opposed to 4OD's Flash based one) ?

It will on only work on certain platforms (i.e. ones that support Flash, and each will require a separate build) and it's not elegant - but might be a good work around until you can break the encryption and access the streams directly.
