pvr.xbmc stopped working out of the blue
#1
Krusty,
All of a sudden my xbmc pvr addon wont work. The only thing that I have done recently is ad the FLIRC usb dongle and installed the FLIRC addon. The pvr.wmc addon just disabled and it wouldnt start back up. I went ahead and updated to the latest Gotham beta hoping that might resolve the issue but it didnt. Here is the snippet from the xbmc log with debugging turned on.

I tried resetting the pvr database in XBMC to see if that would help but it didnt. Also I tried to uninstall the pvr.wmc addon to reinstall but everttime i hit uninstall xbmc crashes (not a full reboot).

I am running XBMC 13.0 beta 4 with pvr.wmc 0.2.93 and serverwmc version 1.0.0.28

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a corrupted file somewhere. Try renaming userdata/Database/addons*.db and reboot If that doesn't work then rename it back (delete the newly created one) and try renaming userdata/addon_data/pvr.wmc/ and reboot.

Not sure where the userdata directory will be on your install, in Linux it will probably be in your home directory inside a .xbmc directory, make sure you turn on view hidden files.

ok, so I finally got the addon to uninstall somehow, but now when I go to reinstall from the zip file i get an error "dependencies not met". Is this because I am running the latest beta?

tried installing from gotham repo and after I click install nothing happens... guess its just not my night

Have you tried my suggestions? There is also a TV*.db and epg*.db in the Database folder that could be corrupted try renaming then rebooting then restoring one at a time.

Sorry, yes I tried your suggestions, I will try the TV* and epg*db when I get home. Is there any other log that would contain more information?

It does seem like the pvr database might be corrupted. FYI: the error 'dependencies not met' for pvr.wmc, usually means you are running the wrong version of the addon for the xbmc version (eg. trying to run frodo pvr.wmc in gotham).

so you agree that deleting the tv*.db and epg*.db is the appropriate step?

20:50:23 T:140286315460352 ERROR: PVR - failed to open the database

This line indicates a screwed up database, unfortunately it doesn't specify which one, hence the trial and error trying to find which database is at fault. If you were using Frodo prior to upgrading to Gotham then you will want to delete the userdata/addons/pvr.wmc directory as it would contain the Frodo version, if you then update to 0.2.95 from the pvr.wmc download page the directory will be recreated with its contents being the latest Gotham version. Hope this makes sense.

0.2.95 or later version will NEVER be included in the Gotham install as they were released after the feature freeze so in order to get the latest and greatest you must download and install it from the download page.
