Stereoscopic playback in gotham issues
#1
Hi everyone,

After a lot of tests and tryouts with numerous of external players and setups in Frodo 12.3 I eventually became frustrated because I didn't manage to make a seamless integration for 3D stereoscopic mkv playback.

Then I jumped to the new Gotham RC1 release which I found so far pretty stable, haven't tested all the plugins yet, though.

I have a local mkv file which is in HTAB 1080p format, and instead of the two images being merged to form the 3D, XBMC splits them to top/bottom. My OEM PowerDVD installation plays them just fine BTW.

My System:
DellXPS laptop with 120hz 1920x1080 display
Geforce GT555M with 3D capabilities and latest drivers
Nvidia 3D glasses (1st generation)
Built-in transmitter

Gotham won't merge the images to form 3D, because hardware based 3D is still not supported in Gotham. You have to manually select the 3D mode in your TV or PJ. There is a version of xbmc by afedchin in which H/W based 3D support is included for nVidia cards which you can try. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1463969

Thank you very much, I am considering testing it, if I find a way of sandboxing it because I don't want to break my current installation.

Just rename the original xbmc installation folder and userdata folder and then install this version.

Install new version of the xbmc in different folder then execute xbmc.exe with -p parameter and your current installation stays untouched. http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=XBMC_for_Win...table_mode

BTW, I pmed the developer and he stated that there is no progress on that project, but a github repo is updated daily periodically, with changes from official and some other unstable sources...

https://github.com/afedchin/xbmc/tree/dx_s3d

I wish that the code will be included in the official builds.
