XBMC on Beaglebone black
#1
Hi all,

I'd like to use my BeagleBone Black with XBMC but I didn't see anything for that board, all ARM port are either with Android or for RasberryPI.

How to get XBMC working on BeagleBone Black please ?

There is a Arch Linux port of XBMC that runs on the BeagleBone Black board. If you look here (http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7/...bone-black) it has the instruction for loading Arch Linux on the Beaglebone Black. Here are instructions for XBMC for Arch Linux: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xbmc . It even appears that you can run Gotham.

I would be interested to know how well XBMC runs on the Beaglebone Black.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for this.
I've already tried the Arch tutorial ( I've found this link working : http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7/...bone-black) but as a non specialist I've abandoned it a year ago.

Anyway, if give it a try again -this is likely to happend as XBMC has few availability ports for BBB and Openlec is not ported at all- I sure give feedbacks on it.

Hi Mouha,

Were you able to run it on beagleboneblack?

I checked the link on this thread and it doesnt seem like Arch has xmbc built with it. What do I need to do to get xmbc on it Confused

Hi,

I'd say : "yes" but I advise anyone to forget about XBMC on BeagleBone Black. It has many pros over PI except the GPU that XBMC is heavily realies on, even for the interface.

+1 BBB won't ever do 1920x1080 unless they update the graphics hardware. Its better than the Pi for lots of embedded stuff, but not for XBMC.
