Android Flickering Skin
#1
Hello,

I've this Xtereamer Multiconsole based on - Processor: RK 3188 Quad-Core Cortex A9 Processor (1.6GHz) GPU: Quad-Core Mali 400 running Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2. I installed Gotham 13 and also tried 13.1 beta after uninstalling the Xtreamer version. I use an air-mouse provided with this device.

The specs of this device are here -- http://www.xtreamer.net/MultiConsole/specs.html

I've a problem... As soon as I launch XMBC, the screen flickers and the menu options i.e. VIDEO, MUSIC SYSTEM etc. would flip on the left side of the screen and be overwritten on one other and then retract. I'm using the default confluence skin. I don't see a problem if I play a video off an add-on. But this flicker seems happening only at the skin level. I tried Alaska but couldn't get it work as for some reason I can't click on YES when it asks to keep this skin. However I do see flicker in the initial screen of Alaska as well.

The video output settings - Display Mode - Windowed and resolution is 1280x720p It won't let me change these settings.

I wonder if someone could help.

Many Thanks

Interesting.. no one has had this problem?

FYI - I tried Beyond XBMC and didn't have this Skin problem. It had Confluence Mod skin.

Can you get a debug log (wiki) of when this happens?

I was looking at the debug log to see if I can find a problem.

Anyway, here it is.

I tried another TV with different HDMI cable but the problem remained. I installed Frodo 12.3 and I don't see the skin flickering at all.

Reading the blog, it seems there have been skin improvements in Gotham release. Maybe something is not right or incompatibility of some sort with some Android devices?

I would think this problem would be at a large extent but interestingly I don't see post(s) here at least reporting about it.

I haven't seen an issue with any of my Android boxes and Gotham.

So I tried a few combinations of the recommended settings but that didn't help.

Anyone have any idea about the possible cause ?

Thanks

First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Thanks. Maybe you intended to say the resolution could be a problem. For some reason, I don't see that resolution setting in the Kodi GUI - System - Settings neither the "Windowed" or full screen settings ( like I see in 12.0 ) so I'm not sure how to change it.

I must reiterate again that this flicker is only happening at the skin level.. it doesn't occur otherwise anywhere.

Still trying to figure out what is it that causing the trouble with the skin. I tried SPMC 14,16 but the issue exists.

Any idea?
