I mistakenly renamed an *.mp4 file to a subtitle file (*.srt). XBMC choked trying to play it. My mistake, but surprised XBMC is this clueless. Does XBMC rely on extensions for file type identification?

These XBMC developers have a lot of nerve making such a clueless program.
So, YOU made a mistake and you are complaining about it?
Its like saying you put gasoline in your diesel car and bitching to the car MFG because it chokes on it.
