Linux [SOLVED]XBMC 13, Ub 14.04, NO passthrough options/device
#1
Hi All,

When I use XBMC 12.3 with UB 13.04, there's passthrough devices can be choosen. But with XBMC 13 on UB14.04, it's gone.
system: Ubuntu 14.04 x64 on Gigabyte B75M, using intel G1610 graphics & onboard hdmi output. AVR is DENON X3000.

NO standalone graphics card installed。
But I logged in as ROOT user. I also done "usermod -a -G pulse-access root" "pulseaudio --start --log-target=syslog" in auto start scripts. When UB13.04, it's the same situation.

What I tried:

I installed pavucontrol, and there's only 1 device: internal audio. I set it to "Digital Surround 5.1(HDMI) output".
I enabled "Expert" control level in XBMC settings.
updated system. upgraded linux graphics driver from 01.org.
installed Realtek linux driver 5.18, compiled ALSA using ./configure --with-cards=hda-intel (with no option, the "make" process will fail)
"Audio ouput device" in "Audio output" have 2 options to choose: " Default, Default out put device(PULSEAUDIO)" and "internal audio Digital Surround 5.1 (HDMI), HDMI /DisplayPort (PULSEAUDIO) ..........."
System settings - Audio have 3 devices: HDMI/DisplayPort; S/PDIF, Analog output. But "Mode" option will automatically change to "stereo" even I modified it to "5.1". Don't know why. And there's NO input devices(blank), but in pavucontrol, input devices can be found.

BUT: NOTHING similar like passthough can be found....

Any advices will be grateful.

Plain wrong: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=PulseAudio

Don't compile any drivers - that will only fuckup your system.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
