Win SMB share prompting for username/password
#1
Hi--I'm running XBMC 13.0 on an AppleTV2.

I'm fairly sure I have my laptop running Windows 8 configured to share folders with "Everyone" without password protection.

When I go to "Add Video source" and select "Windows network (SMB)" I select "WORKGROUP" and then add [my computer's name].

Once I click my go to my computer's name in the Videos" menu I am shown the name of a shared folder, but when I click on it I am presented with a prompt to enter a username & password. At the top of this menu is "Lock settings" in yellow.

Any idea on how to proceed?

Thanks.

Everyone does not include anonymous users.
You are not connecting with an known account from the PC or domain so you are not in the Everyone group.

Either set the registry setting for "Network access: Let Everyone permissions apply to anonymous users'' or simply add the anonymous user to both the share and NTFS rights of your share.

Here is a more comprehensive guide.
