How to change remote permissions
#1
Hi,

I currently have a problem with adding and deleting content from my XBIAN server.

I am using an Raspberry PI with XBIAN installed.

My raspberry pi have a external hard drive connected (through usb) with all my media, and i want to access add/delete content on that hard drive through other computers on my network.

I have tried doing this in Windows 8.1 by adding a "new Network location" (in "This PC" and right-clicking, works the same as in windows7), and when it asks for "Internet or network address" i entered the local Ip-adress to my Raspberry pi, Everything worked fine and i can see all the folders and their contents on my hard drive, but if i try adding or deleting something windows replies with "You need premission to preform this action: You Require permission from "my raspberry pi" to make changes to this file".

So my question is, where in my XBIAN installation do i change these permissions to allow remote computers to add/delete files?

Have you even tried the Xbian forum?
This question looks too installation-specific to be handled here AFAICS

hello to the community,
i reopen this thread, because it's exactly the question i would sent.
i have openelec milhouse with my raspberry pi (of course,it's marvelous, yes,i'm sure)
i have an usb hard drive, plugged in hub, relied on the pi.
when i use samba on win 7 pc,it's possible to remove files on my hard drive.
my question is",how set permission to make impossible remove file"
if possible, the better is it possible to read/write but not delete permission.
i would say thanks to all people make milhouse accessibly for noob like me.
your hard worked community is so cute.
(sorry i'm a french guy who speak english like i can Smile
thanks to all
