Movies - No items found.

When touching "MOVIES" on the XBMC Remote, "No items found" is returned.

Gotham 13.1 on Windows 7

XBMC Remote Version 1.5.1 on iPad 1

I can touch the "Added Movies" icon just below the movie list and the list of movies is returned. The icons: "Movies (0)" returns nothing, "Movie Genres (0)" returns nothing, "Movie Sets (0)" returns nothing.

The ellipses icon: "..." acts normally.

The Video playlist area in the lower left shows the Movies in XBMC.

The "MUSIC", "PICTURES", and "REMOTE CONTROL" selections work normally. I have no TV SHOWS nor LIVE TV in XBMC.

I have run out of ideas to try to fix it. In Windows 7: XMBC, the MOVIES selector on the Home Screen and all else works normally. Confluence skin.

Any help?

Thank you.

Just tried XBMC Remote on a newer iPad running iOS 7.1 and the remote works properly.

My iPad, version 1, runs iOS 5.1.1 and I assume that is why mine doesn't work properly.

I suppose there is no way around that.... Maybe use an older version of the remote?

The requirements for the app state that iOS version 5.1.1 will work. Hoping the issue can be rectified.

every iOS version share the same code so it's really strange that the app works in a different way. Please submit a full XBMC log ( http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...bug_report ) when accessing to the library from both ipads

Thank you for the help. XBMC Remote is great. I appreciate your time and expertise.

I uploaded logs as frankpc along with my email address.

First log is from iPad iOS 5.1.1 #241955
Second log is from iPad iOS 7.1.2 #241957

I'll be interested to follow along with what you find.

Thanks

(Edited to include ID # after I redid saving of logs)

You are welcome. And I am sincere when I thank you for the hard work you have done on this.

I'm new to this. I had figured just the ID #'s would work. How about the following links:

http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=241957 (iOS 7.1.2)

http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=241955 (iOS 5.1.1)

I have compared the two logs and errors and such aren't apparent to me. Most entries between the two logs are identical. While I could just provide you with the difference, I figure you will quickly notice what is wrong. But I could do that if it would help.

I attempted to make the same selections with each iPad. For each one, I just ran XBMC, started up XBMC Remote, and touched the Movies button. With the new iOS, the list of Movies was displayed. With the old iOS, nothing was displayed.

ah!! sorry but with XBMC Gotham we need to enable the option Settings > System > Debugging > Enable Component specific logging > Verbose logging for JSON-RPC requests, otherwise the json rpc request aren't logged anymore. After enabling that option, please register another debug log, thank you.

In the meantime I've tried an ipad 1 with iOS 5.1.1 and everything seems to work properly here, something is happening with your environment that I can't see...

Good news that your iPad 5.1.1 works. That gives me a lot of hope.

How about these links with 'Verbose logging for JSON-RPC requests' enabled.

5.1.1 --> http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=242636
7.1.2 --> http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=242635

I tried to keep touches to a minimum. I started the remote and touched 'MOVIES' and then touched the 'little blue projector icon' at the lower left part of the list three times to cycle through the 'NOT WATCHED' and 'WATCHED' and 'all?' positions.

Thank you for your help with this.

meh! seems that in the debug log that you have provided in the truth there isn't an json-rpc request from the remote app, instead seems that when you are accessing to the movies library with the app, the app is loading the cached info without request anything to XBMC (the VideoLibrary.GetMovies calls into your debug log doesn't come from the remote app). Please, provide a new debug log but this time pull down the list to sync the remote app with XBMC.

Here is the link to the log from the 5.1.1 iOS iPad:

http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=243909

I pulled up all the video folders I have in XBMC. I had just added two last night and they showed up immediately in the list. The way I could pull them up was to use the 4th and 5th icons below the list window. That is to say, #3: the small projector with the folder and #4: the three dots ( ellipses ). Those seem to work correctly

I don't have immediate access to the 7.1.2 iOS iPad, but I can get it if you would like for me to provide a new log for it.

Is this what you meant by "pull down the list to sync the remote app with XMBC". Or was that something to perform from XBMC on the PC rather than the iPad?

Again, I appreciate your time and help with this. Thank You.

No, with "pull down the list to sync" I mean to pull down the movie list, even if it is empty, and a spinner with a label similar to "syncing with XBMC...":

in the log provided there isn't a call coming from the remote app to retrieve the movies (VideoLibrary.GetMovies, the ones you can see in your debug log don't come from the remote app).

Great news!! I did the "list down to sync" feature on both iPads, and both iPads now show the list of Movies. I need to mess with it some more, but I think it is working perfectly.

In the setup for XBMC, I turned on, "Clear cache on next start". I also turned on Enable contents cache, Menu reveal Toobar, and override lockscreen.

Thank you so much for the time you have spent helping me with this.
