Req Improve "recently added" date method
#1
Hey,

The recently added filter option uses the date of the file when it was last modified instead of when it was added to the library.
This is just a little bit confusing if I add movies, which has a much older file creation date.

For example:
I add a movie file (Windows Explorer -> last modified date is xx.xx.2010) it won't be displayed in a smart playlist/filtering/widget, which are used for displaying the recently added library entries.

I aggree that this is the correct handling for a non-library view (videos->files), but for the video DB itself, it should be the date when it was added.

Yep, and the <dateadded> don't use the date when it was added to the library. It uses the date when the file itself was created/last modified.
In this case older files, which are recently added, won't appear in a smartplaylist if it's limited to a newer time range. And even if it's displayed, It will be sorted after younger files.

Another example:

Today I added Starship Troopers 1-3 and they should appear at position 1-3 on the recently added list, but they don't (Last modified date of the .mkv file is 15.04.2014).
XBMC "thinks" that this last modified date is the date when it was added, but this is simply wrong Smile

Ah! My fault, sorry. Now I understand.

I think this setting should be available in "Settings -> Video -> Library" (expert mode).

Not my decision, but I think this would be more userfriendly to get settings like that in expert level.

Nevertheless, thank you both for your help Smile Thread can be closed.

I'd like to see most "safe" advanced settings moved to the GUI as well. We now have settings levels, and as long as the setting doesn't explode, more should be in the GUI.
