Release YouTube (IMPORTANT - READ FIRST POST)
I updated to this 5.1.19 version from Kolifanes and what I tested seems to work now. I'm worried a bit about the fact that this "version" is unofficial. Seeing as the current official version is 5.1.17, what will happen when the actual 5.1.18 version comes out. Kodi will think that I have a more recent version which might cause some erratic behavior. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks in advance.

The originator of this addon was Bromix and he wasn't part of the Kodi team. Kodi merely added his plugin to their repository. Bromix has stopped maintaining the addon, so the final 5.1.17 is the last official release. Until someone starts maintaining this addon and re-submits it to the Kodi repo 5.1.1.9 is all we have.

I wish I have the skills to maintain an addon like this, but I don't, otherwise I would.
HTPCs: 2 x Chromecast with Google TV
Audio: Pioneer VSX-819HK & S-HS 100 5.1 Speakers
Server: HP Compaq Pro 6300, 4GB RAM, 8.75TB, Bodhi Linux 5.x, NFS, MySQL
If the Kodi Team want, they can upload my modified version to official repository. So everyone can have YouTube back.

Just copy "login_client.py" on your youtube addon folder from 5.1.19.
Google blocks the download since the file got downloaded too often. Can one support a mirror please?
I was able to download it by transferring it to my Google drive. I don't know which file sharing websites are allowed. If someone can tell me where to upload it I will.

It seems I can't attach files directly to my posts.

Bromix was part of team kodi.
Of the repo would get an 5.1.18 your machine wouldn't download it as it still had a higher version.

Yeah I figured. Perhaps parcel's idea is the safer way to do the update at the moment. Then again I do hope that someone can fix the repository version too. As Kolifanes says that way everyone can have Youtube back on Kodi.
In the case, you can't download the fix (5.1.19) from https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_QaKV3...sp=sharing
There are the mirror

It's like not everyone going to like the .zip from other devs. So i have take the original addon in the latest release from bromix and have apply only the fix for APIs.
If you want, you can download here

The difference from 5.1.19 and 5.1.20 are.

1) 5.1.19 based on the work of finalmakerr and parcel with API fixed
2) 5.1.20 is based on 5.1.16 latest bromix release with only API fixed.
The right way is to take fixes and make PR to main Kodi repo

@Kolifanes was lurking around IRC #kodi and in a moment of weakness I decided to help him put the **fixes** forward...

result https://github.com/xbmc/repo-plugins/pull/367

Please note however Im not an addon dev, Ive no interest or assume any responsibility for that pr, its contents or whoever gets upset by the those changes and cant do any coding myself to fix anything.

This Post is here only to notify the community of the proper way to go around things and making PR's intead of grabbing random zips with other peoples work they dont quite understand. (something I should have waited before volunteering my help)
.
I've tried both 5.1.19 and 5.1.20 and when I click 'Playlists' I get an error message.........The request uses the <code>mine</code>......

Any chance someone could look into thus, please?

Thanks

You need to do that

Remember

Delete the folder on your userdata plugin.video.youtube. You can found the location here http://kodi.wiki/view/Userdata

(2016-02-24, 14:35)ashlar Wrote: Hmmm... tried starting from scratch. Success.

Basically, I installed parcel's version (5.1.18c), substituted my credentials for relevant Kodi version *and* for youtube-for-kodi-quota. Now all works fine.

What I don't understand is why placing my credentials in the youtube-tv entry makes My Subscriptions stop working.

This is what parcel has from line 16 to line 21 in login_client.py:
Code:
'youtube-tv': {
    'system': 'All',
    'key': 'AIzaSyAd-YEOqZz9nXVzGtn3KWzYLbLaajhqIDA',
    'id': '861556708454-d6dlm3lh05idd8npek18k6be8ba3oc68.apps.googleusercontent.com',
    'secret': 'SboVhoG9s0rNafixCSGGKXAT'
},

If I put key, id, and secret as per my credentials (which I do for youtube-for-kodi-quota and youtube-for-kodi-16), My Subscriptions doesn't work anymore. Parcel, what's the option to select in Google's API manager page to have them working. I don't want to depend on a generic set of keys anymore.

Thank you. Smile

Enable Youtube API on this link.
Code:
https://console.developers.google.com/apis/api/youtube/overview?project=<project name>
Nope, I did that already. And everything works, save for My Subscriptions. I need to keep the credentials in the youtube-tv entry as per the plugin I downloaded from you for them to work. Which led me to question where those came from.

Kolifanes (and others), I see the fix you pushed to Github but I wonder... won't all Kodi users accessing YouTube with the same keys lead to easily overcome the available free quotas?

Maybe I got things wrong, but what I got is that the API provides you with:

units/day 50,000,000
units/100seconds/user 300,000

Are these limits compatible with the wide user base on Kodi?

Edit: for instance, yesterday, with no more than 3 or 4 videos played back in Kodi, I see that I used 1,345 units. That would translate to roughly 37,000 users. But 3, 4 videos is light usage. I'm sure there's people watching tens of videos on a daily basis. Searching, watching, etc. All consumes units.
